How To Transport Fragile Furniture?
Fragile furniture requires more than a blanket around the outside. Glass, mirrors, high-gloss panels, narrow legs, decorative edges, LED components, sliding doors, and veneered surfaces can fail in different ways during loading and transport.
The packaging plan should be based on the weakest part of the item rather than only on its total weight.

Identify the Fragile Components
Inspect the furniture and mark components that are vulnerable to:
Impact
Bending
Vibration
Scratching
Moisture
Compression
Sudden temperature change
Typical high-risk parts include:
Glass shelves
Mirrors
Cabinet doors
Thin metal legs
Decorative moldings
High-gloss panels

Take condition photographs before packing.
Remove Fragile Parts Where Possible
Glass shelves, mirrors, handles, legs, drawers, and detachable lighting components are usually safer when packed separately.
Label each component according to the furniture item and installation position.
Small hardware should be placed in sealed, labeled bags. The bags should be secured inside a dedicated accessory carton rather than allowed to move freely inside a large package.
Do not transport loose glass inside a cabinet.
Wrap the Surface Before Adding Hard Protection
Use a clean soft layer directly against the furniture surface.
SuiTable materials may include:
Foam sheet
Clean tissue
Nonwoven wrapping
Soft moving blankets
Surface-protection film approved for the finish
Then add rigid protection such as cardboard sheets, corner guards, or a custom carton.
Bubble wrap should not always be placed directly against delicate painted, polished, or coated surfaces for long periods. Pressure and heat may leave patterns on some finishes.
Protect Glass and Mirrors
Glass and mirrors need edge protection and cushioning against vibration.
Use:
Foam edge channels
Corner protectors
Rigid face panels
Double-wall cartons
Internal spacers
A suitable crate for high-value pieces
Glass packages should normally be transported upright and secured against movement. They should not be laid beneath heavy furniture.
The package should be clearly marked as fragile and indicate the correct orientation.
Stabilize Doors and Drawers
Doors and drawers should not be allowed to open during transport.
Remove them when practical, or secure them with non-damaging straps and internal protection.
Do not apply strong tape directly to finished surfaces.
Drawer runners, hinges, and glass-door fittings can be damaged when a door repeatedly moves during truck vibration.
Support Long and Narrow Parts
Table legs, bed-frame rails, shelf panels, and narrow decorative strips can bend when they are supported only at one point.
Bundle matching components with separators between them, then place the bundle inside a rigid carton.
Avoid tightening straps so strongly that they crush the edges.
Choose the Correct Outer Package
A standard carton may be sufficient for lightweight knock-down furniture. Heavier, assembled, or high-value fragile furniture may need:
Reinforced cartons
Double boxing
Palletized packaging
Plywood crates
Timber frames
Custom foam inserts
The package should protect against shock and vibration while preventing the furniture from moving inside.
Empty space is dangerous. Use suitable blocking materials to immobilize the item without placing pressure on fragile details.
Plan the Vehicle Loading Order
Load heavy and stable furniture first. Fragile items should be positioned where they will not be crushed by shifting cargo.
Inside the vehicle:
Use load bars or straps
Keep glass upright
Separate metal edges from finished panels
Prevent pallets from sliding
Avoid stacking on upholstered furniture
Keep fragile cartons away from doors where they may fall during unloading
Straps should pass over protected structural areas rather than glass, thin panels, or decorative edges.
Control the Unloading Process
Many items are damaged during the final few metres rather than during the main journey.
Before unloading:
Confirm the route into the building.
Measure doors and elevators.
Prepare dollies and blankets.
Assign enough people.
Remove one package at a time.
Check orientation labels.
Inspect cartons before opening.
Open crates and cartons carefully so tools do not scratch the furniture.
