How To Install Cabinet Hinges?
Cabinet hinges control how a door opens, closes, and aligns with the cabinet frame. Correct installation helps prevent uneven gaps, rubbing, loose doors, and premature hardware wear.
The exact installation method depends on whether the cabinet uses concealed hinges, surface-mounted hinges, inset doors, or overlay doors. Always confirm the hinge type before drilling.

Prepare the Door and Cabinet
Start by placing the cabinet on a sTable, level surface. Remove drawers, shelves, or loose components that may interfere with installation.
Confirm the Door Position
Determine whether the door sits inside the cabinet opening or overlaps the cabinet side panels.
This affects the hinge plate position and the amount of clearance required around the door.
Mark the Hinge Locations
Most cabinet doors use at least two hinges. Taller or heavier doors may require additional support.
Measure from the top and bottom edges, then mark both hinge positions evenly. Avoid placing a hinge where it will interfere with an internal shelf or drawer.
Install the Hinges on the Door
For concealed hinges, the circular hinge cup usually fits into a drilled recess on the rear face of the door.
Drill the Cup Holes Carefully
Use the correct hinge-boring bit and control the drilling depth. The hole should be deep enough to seat the hinge cup without breaking through the front surface.
A drilling template can improve consistency when several doors require the same hinge position.
Secure the Hinge Body
Place the hinge into the recess and check that it sits square to the door edge.
Tighten the screws evenly. Excessive force may strip the panel or pull the hinge out of alignment.
Attach the Mounting Plates
Position the door against the cabinet and transfer the hinge locations to the cabinet side.
Fix the mounting plates at the marked points, keeping them parallel to the cabinet front edge.
Connect the Door
Attach or clip the hinge arms onto the mounting plates according to the hinge design.
Support the door during this step so its weight does not twist the hinge or damage the screw holes.
Check the Initial Movement
Open and close the door slowly. It should move without scraping the top, bottom, or neighboring panel.
Do not make large adjustments before confirming that all screws are seated correctly.
Adjust the Door Alignment
Many concealed hinges provide three-way adjustment.
Side-to-Side Adjustment
This changes the gap between adjacent doors or between the door and cabinet side.
Make small changes to each hinge so the door remains straight.
Height Adjustment
Loosening the mounting-plate screws slightly allows the complete door to move upward or downward.
Retighten the screws after the gap is even.
Depth Adjustment
Depth control moves the door closer to or farther from the cabinet body.
This helps the front surfaces sit flush and allows the door to close without excessive pressure.
Why Hinge Accuracy Matters in Multifunctional Furniture
A Dresser TV Stand Combo may combine drawers, cabinet doors, display areas, and a television surface in one structure.
When several fronts are positioned close together, inaccurate hinge drilling can create uneven lines or cause doors to interfere with nearby drawers. Hardware locations therefore need to be coordinated with internal partitions and storage zones during product development.
Our Furniture Manufacturing Support
Our technical team can review furniture drawings, structural details, hardware positions, panel materials, and packaging methods before production.
For OEM and ODM orders, sample confirmation can be used to check door gaps, hinge movement, drawer alignment, surface finish, and assembly instructions. Our product range covers multiple furniture categories, allowing buyers to develop coordinated collections rather than sourcing every item separately.
